The good news is that I finished three amazing songs which I will be releasing as an EP hopefully this September or October depending on how it goes. I was going to release an album but I decided to release a series of EPs instead so that I can pump out music consistently. I am excited to share these with you! Since i’ve been back I have been following up with people, making appointments and getting everything set for this new release. Since I self released my first album I have grown wiser and stronger for this second time around.

I will be doing the final recordings for a bunch of songs that I have been working on all year long. I have been blessed to have worked with such amazing producers on this project and I am excited to see it progress and get completed. This album has so many stories and experiences that I have gone through that I want to share with all of you. I will be picking a couple of singles from the project hopefully this month so I’m hoping I will be able to share something with you very soon.

I think sometimes we tend to over think things and analyze something to the point where it just gets exhausting. Sometimes learning how to let go and letting things happen naturally is not easy. However its so important. I have been soaking up everything that I have gone through, the pain the happiness the success the failures and putting them in my music. I know that somewhere out there someone will be able to relate to it and thats all that matters. I can’t wait to share this next album with you. I’m going to be working on it more this week and i’m excited at how its coming out.

I am excited about this second album because everything is falling into place. I have been blessed to find some really incredible producers who I have been collaborating with from all over. Many other incredible things are happening right now and I’m really excited. I just wanted to say to you guys keep pressing on and keep believing that anything is possible. ]]> http://www.amyserrata.com/blog/chillin-in-the-bay/feed/ Working In The Studio With Bedrock http://www.amyserrata.com/blog/working-in-the-studio-with-bedrock/ http://www.amyserrata.com/blog/working-in-the-studio-with-bedrock/#comments Tue, 27 Apr 2010 08:06:13 +0000 Amy Serrata http://www.amyserrata.com/blog/?p=174 I was just in the recording studio here in the bay area to a very well known bay area singer songwriter, Goapele.  I was working with Bedrock a producer who produced her latest single from her up and coming 3rd album “Milk and Honey.”  This had been my second time there and every time I am there I am always blown away.  It is such a nice studio!  How can you not be inspired from that?  LOL He had some drums already patterned out that had a alternative feel to it and he wanted me to write something from scratch.  He went on the piano and started playing some chords and I came up with the melodys.  It was such a incredible experience and I look forward to many more like this in my lifetime.  I came into the studio around 5pm and I left after 5am what a night!  While the song is not complete yet it is on its way.  It has a haunting alternative feel to it and after I heard it reverberating throughout the speakers I thought this is something that could be epic something that could be in a movie.  My dream is to write songs for all different kinds of genres of music from country to pop to soul to rnb to hip hop to folk to anything in between for the rest of my life.  Every day I have thoughts, ideas, storys and words that come to me which translate themselves into new songs.  I am constantly thinking about music…its my passion and its something that I feel at home with.

Tomorrow I will be going back into the studio to write some new material for my up and coming second album.  I can’t wait to share it with you…hope all of you have a blessed week.

]]> http://www.amyserrata.com/blog/download-my-first-album-for-free-bandcampcomamyserrata/feed/ I’m On My Way http://www.amyserrata.com/blog/my-second-album/ http://www.amyserrata.com/blog/my-second-album/#comments Tue, 20 Apr 2010 06:32:06 +0000 Amy Serrata http://www.amyserrata.com/blog/?p=167 I am well on my way to completing my second album.  Since I self released my first album, wrote all the songs and sung all the vocals while it was quite a daunting process it certainly was worth it.  Now that I am working on my second album it is running smoother now since I know what to expect more or less now lol.  I feel like I have other things to share with you now since life has given me new experiences and situations that I had never experienced before.  So I will be sharing those things with you and I know that many of these exerpiences will be things that many of my listeners will be able to relate to.  Heartache, love, pain, changes LIFE.  I have been writing a lot of songs and I feel like I have grown as a songwriter as well.  This next album will not be exactly like the first one it will show a different side of me but it will still have links and connections with the first.  Block Cheddar is executive producing the album and over seeing the whole album which has been a total blessing for me.  I will also have other producers featured on this album as well.  I can’t wait to share a snapshot of my life with you in a medium that I know how to tell it best- MUSIC.

I have been blessed to have a family of high achievers who set goals and follow through to complete them.  While I am the only one in my family who is a musician this has been to my benefit because it has given me an example to follow by.  While music is a very different feild to law or to business, making goals, achieving them, working hard and not giving up all go hand in hand towards being successful.  I am pushing myself beyond my boundaries right now and looking to create new goals to achieve as well.  I have learned that if I stay stagnant in life and I don’t take risks because I am too scared I will remain in the same place that I started at.

So heres to taking some time to thank yourself and all of the other people in your life who have helped you to where you are today in your life.
